MELBOURNE MUSEUM

We decided to go to the Melbourne Museum with our friends and their two boys.

A third of the museum is devoted to an indoor garden which showcases local plants.  Currently it incorporated a chimney which remained after the most recent bushfire.  This is meant to symbolise the constant battle which Australian's have with nature and in particular fires.

The rest of the museum is fairly standard with objects in glass cases.

One interesting display was large spiders in a glass wall.

Some people were less impressed than others regarding this.

I, myself, didn't appreciate it.

BBQ

Being in Australia we were required to attend several BBQ's.

This is particularly hard on us as we love BBQ's.

We stayed over at the Maloney's so there was no rush hence the flowing of the beers.

Our friends son had been given a t-shirt (as he's half Irish) from friend.

Scenes of Melbourne

We decided to wonder along the Yarra river.

It was a lovely Autumn day.

We started at the Casino and walked to Batman Parade bridge.

It was amazing the amount of change.  It's now quite different from what we grew up with.

What was really interesting is that Melbourne, like all of Australia, has fixed BBQ's which are either free or minimal charge.  They can be used by anyone and encourage people to linger and enjoy the outdoors.

Moondah Beach

Every trip to Melbourne requires us to get wet.  In particular, at the beach.

We went to Moondah beach which is a relatively unknown beach which effectively means it's relatively private.  It has about privately owned 30 changing boxes/huts; all beautifully maintained.

Whilst there we witnessed a lovely sun set.

Just where the sun was setting were a flotilla of yauhts which looked beautiful.

Unfortuantely, you cant see them in the photos.
