Seeing the sites of Greenwich We've had many visitors over the years and have seen most of the sights (some several times) of ol' London Town but when the sun is shining its best to just go to a park and take in the view. With that in mind we decided to take our guest for a trip to Greenwich.
I highly recommend one of the Thames River tours as you can get some brilliant commentary - from the operators and those around you. Not to mention just people spotting! Its also a pleasant way to get around when your a bit tired. ;-)
As you can see we took the standard pics from the top of Greenwich (near the observatory) with the view of the old naval college preceding the London landmarks. Its always crowded so it's hard to get it free of 'tourists'.
Most people don't realise that in the Naval College (which was once a palace) there is a church as well as a formal function room. They are opposite each other in a beautifully symmetrical way just like the rest of the college. The church is sparsely but tastefully decorated with emphasis on the organ (gold plated pipes).
The function room on the other hand has barely a surface unadorned. It reminded me of the Sistine Chapel with its imagery and style of painting.
As you can see they'd set it up for a banquet as there was a wedding that night.
